March 19, 2008 - We are offering free introductory training classes for DESIGN II for Windows at our offices here in Sugar Land, Texas. We still have 2 or 3 spots open for the class scheduled for Friday, June 6, 2008 at 8 am. Let us know by RSVP to admin if you are interested and we will send you a confirmation e-mail with directions.

Here are some comments from those in attendance at previous classes:

"Great overview of the capabilities of the software."

"Fast moving and very interesting."

"I have used the program for a while, but learned a lot from the training."

The class lasts a half day, from 8 am until noon. Murugan Selvan, Ph.D. Chemical Engineering and head of our technical support staff will teach the class. The course is a very good overview of the capabilities of DESIGN II. The agenda for the session can be found at training agenda (70K Word document). We will try to adhere closely to the agenda to maximize the benefit of the class for all participants. If you are interested in more specific and detailed training, please e-mail WinSim Sales .

Please note that this class does contribute 4 hours towards the yearly requirements for the Texas Board of Professional Engineers Continuing Education Program .

February 18, 2008 - We have updated the DESIGN II for Windows brochure to add more information about sulfur handling, unit modules, thermodynamics and more.
February 14, 2008 - Version 9.52 of DESIGN II for Windows is available for download now ! This is an maintenance release with both fixes and upgrades.
  • Added automatic redistribution of the sulfur species (S2, S3, S4, S5, S6, S7 and S8) in the vapor phase when temperature or pressure is changed in a unit module. Added automatic redistribution of all sulfur in the liquid phase to Sulfur 8.
  • The thermodynamic information for the sulfur components S2, S3, S4, S, S6, S7 and S8 was updated.
  • Added two new Claus Plant sample flowsheets: c:\designii\samples\sulfur\ClausGPSA.psd and c:\designii\samples\sulfur\ClausAllSpecies.psd). The ClausGPSA.psd flow sheet models the Claus Process in the GPSA data book using Sulfur 2, Sulfur 6 and Sulfur 8. The ClausAllSulfurSpecies.psd flow sheet models the Claus Process in the GPSA data book using Sulfur 2, Sulfur 3, Sulfur 4, Sulfur 5, Sulfur 6, Sulfur 7 and Sulfur 8.
  • Added a new table for the line pressure drop module that now shows node, Liquid / Liquid Transition Reynolds numbers, Vapor / Vapor Transition Reynolds numbers, Friction Factor, and Flow Regimes data.
  • Added a Material Balance By Node table using mass dimensional units in the output.
  • Added display of the Plate-Fin exchanger calculated duties on the flowsheet.
  • Reduced the tabbed Components / Thermodynamics dialog size so that it does not overshoot 1024x768 displays when using non-English versions of Windows.
  • Miscellaneous small enhancements and fixes (see release notes )
